New Maruti Ertiga 2018 to be Showcased at Auto Expo 2018
Maruti Suzuki seems to be ready for the upcoming Auto Expo 2018, as the company will be showcasing the Concept Future S, while the company will also launch the new Maruti Suzuki Swift at the Expo. Now we have learned from our sources trusted sources that the company will also showcase the all-new second generation Maruti Ertiga 2018 at the Auto Expo. The new Ertiga is internally codenamed as the Maruti YHA and reports also suggest that the company is also working on a Crossover MPV based on the Ertiga. The new Ertiga will be longer and wider as compared to the current model and will get a new diesel engine.
Reports suggest that the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Facelift will be launched in the country in August 2018. According to spy images, the rear profile of the new Ertiga seems to have got a complete overhaul in terms of design. The car gets new LED tail lamps, redesigned rear bumper and tailgate and a high-mounted LED stop lamp. The new generation Maruti Ertiga will be longer and wider, allowing better interior space for the third-row passengers.
The new generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will be based on the lightweight HEARTECT platform, which is compliant with side impact, frontal off-set collision and pedestrian safety standards. As far as engine specifications are concerned, the new Ertiga is expected to get the all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine that has been developed in-house by Maruti Suzuki. This engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission while an automatic gearbox is also expected to be available as an option.
As far as petrol engine is concerned, the new Ertiga might continue with the existing 1.4-litre K14C unit. However, reports also suggest that Maruti Suzuki might introduce the 1.5-litre M15A petrol engine on the new Ertiga. This engine produces 109 BHP of power and 138 Nm of peak torque on the Indonesia-spec Suzuki S-Cross that is manufactured in India. Coming to the expected price point, the 2018 Ertiga should be launched in the price bracket of INR 7 lakh to INR 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
