Tata H5 SUV Images Teased Again Ahead of...

It was only yesterday that the Tata H5 was spied testing in India with production body style. Tata Motors has now released new teaser images of the Tata H5 SUV that partially reveals the front fascia and some interior details of the upcoming SUV. The Tata H5 (Tata Harrier) will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 and is highly pegged to be the showstopper at the biennial motor show. The premium SUV from Tata Motors will be available in 5-seat as well as 7-seat body styles, which are internally known as Tata Q501 and Tata Q502 respectively.

Tata Motors will be showcasing the Tata H5 SUV in its concept form and the new teaser image reveals the LED headlight design of the concept along with the humanity line grille. The other image partially reveals the interior dashboard design of the SUV. As per this image, the H5 SUV is likely to get touch controls on the dash for the infotainment system and air-con system among others. The Tata H5 will be based on the Land Rover Discovery Sport’s L550 platform, but will be heavily localised to suit the Q501 and Q502. The 5-seat Tata H5 will rival the Hyundai Creta and the Jeep Compass while the bigger 7-seat model will rival the Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and the Mahindra XUV500.

The Tata H5 SUV (Tata Harrier) will debut Tata’s IMPACT Design 2.0 philosophy. Design highlights on the Tata H5 will include a raised up bonnet, 3D grille with humanity line, sweptback LED headlamps and bulging wheel arches with body claddings. The shoulder line will get the prominent ceramic strips, while the sloping roofline will seamlessly merge into the D-pillar. The car is also likely to get dual-tone roof and LED tail lamps. Some media reports suggest that the SUV will ride on 19-inch wheels and will come shod with MRF tyres.

Under the hood, the Tata H5 will be available with the Fiat sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine that will be available in two states of tune. On the Tata Q501 5-seat variant, the engine will produce 140 BHP of power and 320 Nm of peak torque. The same engine will develop 170 BHP of power and 350 Nm of peak torque on the Tata Q502. Both these engines will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. That said, reports claim that Tata Motors will offer the locally manufactured ZF-sourced 9-speed automatic transmission on the Tata H5.
