IFFI Day Two: Big B inaugurates Dadasaheb Phalke retrospective
Day Two at the 50th IFFI in Goa was full of action. After gracing Inaugural show, the much-celebrated star Amitabh Bachchan was seen at the inauguration of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Retrospective.
The 77-year-old veteran, who was declared as the recipient of the prestigious award in September this year, is being honoured with this retrospective.
Addressing the gathering, Amitabh Bachchan described coming to Goa as a homecoming. He said cinema is a universal medium that brings people together keeping aside the differences of their social and modern lives.
Celebrated films of the star including "Sholay", "Black", and ''Piku'' will be screened as part of this retrospective.
"Paa", directed by Bachchan's frequent collaborator R Balki, opened the retrospective.The Indian Panorama section also kicked off on Thursday. Indian Panorama Feature Film Jury head Priyadarshan as well as acclaimed Indian Film Director Rahul Rawail and several other dignitaries including directors of films being screened were welcomed on the ocassion.
26 feature films and 15 non feature films are part of the Indian panorama section. Gujarati film HELLARO directed by Abhishek Shah is the opening Feature Film of this section.

The film "Nooreh" directed by Ashish Pandey opened the non-feature film section of Indian Panorama 2019. Director Ashish Pandey introduced his film.
Secretary I&B inaugurated a hi-tech interactive multi-media exhibition at IFFI showcasing the journey of IFFI from its inception in 1952 to now.
The aim of the exhibition is to show how IFFI helps to showcase India cinemas to the world and also makes India a platform where cinemas from the world can be showcased.
The NFAI 2020 calendar was also launched. Masterclasses are much looked forward to by cinema buffs.

The Master Frames section that has 17 films in it by filmmakers of international repute like Pedro Almodovar, Lav Diaz, Xavier Dolan, Dardenne Brothers, also began its screenings with opening film 'Commitment', which is also Turkey's Oscar entry this year.
