The management of the school in Hyderabad's old city area, where the sexual assault of a 4-year-old shook locals earlier this week, has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the parents of the minor survivor.

The school said that a fixed deposit would be made in the minor’s name in a national bank of their choice, adding that they would take the responsibility of providing her with free education till she finishes her schooling. 

The Chairman of the institute also said that they would 'assist' her with her further education.

The police on Sunday arrested a 29-year-man for sexually assaulting the minor at a private school in Hyderabad's old city area, after the crime had triggered massive protests last week. The man has been identified as Mohammed Geelani, a supervisor at the school.  

Stating that they stood with the family, the school management also denied allegations that it was absconding, adding that it was just staying safe from angry mobs. 

“The monetary aid is not compensation but an assurance to the girl against financial and social impediments. The aid is a security for her future and her continued education. She will also be provided free education throughout her schooling tenure, and will also be assisted with her higher education,” the Chairman was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, locals continued to demand that the school must be shut for failing to secure the students in its premises, even as the state's Education Department is all set to submit its enquiry report over the incident. 

AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday met with Hyderabad Collector Raghunandan Rao and city Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, demanding swift action in the case.

The incident took place when the accused lured the girl with a chocolate, during the interval. The accused then took her to an isolated area and sexually abused her, the police said. The girl told her parents what happened, after she reached home on the same day. 

As news of the incident spread, a large number of people gathered outside the school, shouting slogans with some even pelting stones and vandalising furniture and other property belonging to the institute. 

More than 20 people were detained by the police and later let off after a strict warning for being part of the protest.

A case has been registered under Section 376 (Rape) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
