After announcing political entry, actor Prakash Raj meets KTR in Hyd
Earlier this week, Prakash Raj had said that he would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election as an independent candidate.
A day after announcing that he would contest as an independent candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, actor Prakash Raj met with Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Working President K T Rama Rao in Hyderabad. Taking to Twitter and posting a picture of his meeting, the actor tweeted, "Thank you @KTRTRS for the inspiring support to my political journey... a new beginning NOT AGAINST some one but FOR THE SOCIETY #citizensvoice #justasking in parliament too (sic).”
"Congratulations Prakash Raj on the decision to enter public life. Let your journey be all about bringing positive change; Wish you good luck," the ex-Telangana Minister, who is also the son of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said in a tweet, in response to the actor. In their meeting, which lasted for around 20 minutes, the duo were said to have discussed Prakash's future plans for his political career. However, the actor is yet to reveal which constituency he will contest from.
Actor Prakash Raj has been a vocal critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government. The multiple National award-winning actor has often used social media and public platforms to criticise Modi and the BJP, especially on issues like intolerance and vigilante attacks, ever since his close friend Gauri Lankesh, a journalist, was shot dead in Bengaluru in January last year. The Special Investigation Team probing the death of Gauri Lankesh had revealed that her killers had Prakash Raj too, on their hit list.
In May 2018, he launched 'just asking', a series of questions that he regularly poses to Narendra Modi and his government.
The actor has also extended his support to several politicians including Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his plans for a 'Federal Front', which would include a consortium of regional parties. In April this year, Prakash Raj was part of a meeting that included KCR and former PM Deve Gowda at the latter's home in Bengaluru.
