Do Not Dream That Big to Become Prime Mi...

Former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav while speaking at Zee News ‘India Ka DNA’ Conclave in New Delhi on Wednesday said that he does not dream to become the prime minister of India. “I cannot dream of becoming the prime minister but, can dream of taking the expressway from Lucknow further to Ballia,” he said.

Adding further, he said that he is not in the list of prime ministerial faces while asserting the next prime minister can be from Uttar Pradesh. He also claimed that Congress President Rahul Gandhi can surely dream of becoming the prime minister and asserted that the party will have to work hard for it. “Rahul Gandhi has the advantage of dreaming big because he comes from a family that has had PMs. There’s nothing wrong with it,” he said.

Claiming that the country needs a new PM, he said, “My favourite for the PM’s post would be the person who is the country’s favourite after elections next year.”

He also targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over ending ties with Mehbooba Mufti’s People Democratic Party (PDP) in Jammu and Kashmir. The Samajwadi Party chief asserted that the BJP did so for political gains.

While answering a question on how much would he rate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his work, Akhilesh Yadav said, “I would just say that Uttar Pradesh has not received anything.”

Akhilesh Yadav lauded West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her work on infrastructure. He said that she has been repeatedly winning in the state because of the continuous good work she is doing.

Uttar Pradesh’s former CM also said that the regional forces will play a major role during Lok Sabha Elections 2019. “There will be change in 2019,” a confident Akhilesh Yadav said while adding that there is a lot of negative sentiment against the BJP.
