Tips to stay healthy during monsoon

Tips to stay healthy during monsoon

The monsoon season is just round the corner and one should not become too enamored with the lovely weather because the rainy season brings with it a number of health concerns. While you don't have to worry about the scorching heat for a few months, you need to take the appropriate precautions to protect yourself and your family from the health risks associated with the monsoon season. During the rainy season, people are more susceptible to catching infections such as malaria, dengue fever, skin allergies, jaundice, and typhoid. Here is the list of 7 ways to keep healthy this monsoon: Remove stagnant water Flower pots and empty containers on the rooftop, often collect stagnant water and mosquito breeding grounds. Mosquito bites can cause serious illnesses such as dengue and malaria. So, it’s very important to take precautions. Make sure there's no standing water in your house or near your house. If necessary, use mosquito repellents and try to remove that water as soon as possible. Increase vitamin C intake During monsoon the chances of infections and other allergies increase. So, try to consume more food that contains a high level of Vitamin C such as lemon, sprouts and other veggies and fruits which contain Vitamin C. Vitamin C helps our body to fight cough, cold and other allergies. Drink pure water In comparison to the summer, people consume less water during the monsoon season. But during this season, our body requires a good amount of water to function properly. During the rainy season, make it a point to consume cleaned or boiling water. Avoid extra cool beverages and also if you are traveling, bring boiled or purified water with you. Avoid eating street food During the rainy season, one must prioritise one's health and avoid consuming street food. Although the front of your street food counter appears to be clean, we are concerned about the backside cooking area, quality of ingredients, and the way they cook food. And it’s important that we must take special caution during the rainy season to avoid many health issues. Try to eat home-cooked food. Don’t walk in dirty water Walking across muddy water might cause your foot bacteria and viruses. Try to stay away from the puddles of water on the road. If you do happen to step in one, change your shoes as soon as you get home. It's also a good idea to keep a spare pair of shoes and socks with you whenever you go outdoors. Have herbal tea We all love tea during the rainy season, but try to consume herbal tea more. Herbal tea is made with a variety of herbs such as tulsi, cinnamon, ginger, and other herbs which are beneficial for seasonal allergies and seasonal cold and flu. So, grab your cup of herbal tea and enjoy the season of rain. Add a disinfectant to the bathwater Getting wet in rain is always refreshing and fun, but it can cause many skin allergies and make you fall ill. I get wet in rain by chance or by choice make sure you bathe in clean water after that. Also, add a few drops of disinfectant to your bathwater. This will wash away all the germs and bacteria present on your body because of rain or sweat and dirt.
